Dreaming of a wedding on the stunning coast of Downeast Maine? The Newagen Seaside Inn in Southport, Maine is probably exactly what you’re envisioning. Ocean breezes, rocky shores, pine dotted islands, lobster and fishing boats awaiting the next day’s catch. This is the essence of old New England, with enough classic Downeast Maine charm to last you and your guests a lifetime. We had the great pleasure of shooting Meghan and Stephen’s Boothbay Harbor wedding at the Newagen Seaside Inn, and from our side of the camera we knew we hit the jackpot for epic coastal Maine wedding photography!
The Inn and its beautiful grounds, overlooking Cape Newagen and Cape Harbor, are located at the southern tip of Southport Island. Boothbay Harbor, Maine is right on your way to the Newagen Inn. There are lots of great classic Maine byways, views, eateries and folks to be met and experienced along the way. The Inn has 200 years of history to reveal and has hosted national icons such as Frank Sinatra and environmental activist, marine biologist and author, Rachel Carson.
Practically speaking, Newagen Seaside Inn is a great choice for your Maine wedding. First of all, they offer assistance in planning most if not all aspects of your wedding. This is especially helpful if yours is a destination wedding in Maine or even if it’s just friends and relatives coming from various parts of the country/world. The folks at Newagen have been planning coastal Maine weddings and oceanfront wedding receptions for decades. Secondly, you and many of your family members and friends can stay right onsite. Almost every guest room and seaside cottage has a private, ocean view. With over 20 secluded acres on a pristine, oceanfront point, you really couldn’t ask for a better playground to just be with the people you love…imagine, coffee at sunrise over the Atlantic…with your whole family…on your wedding day?! And with Boothbay Harbor just up the road there are plenty of nearby activities and sightseeing opportunities as well as numerous lodging options for weddings with larger guest lists.
Meghan and Stephen chose to have their ceremony at the nearby All Saints Church, which is about as storybook wedding chapel as they come. It’s a short golf cart ride away from the Inn and nestled in a coastal Maine woodland right on the harbor.
Of course, we attended the wedding not as guests but as wedding photographers, but from our perspective we thoroughly enjoyed our time photographing this classically Maine, oceanfront wedding venue. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They were a pleasure to work with. We’ve found that the way fellow vendors treat one another says a lot about the environment and class of the business as a whole. Based on our experience and feedback from wedding clients you can be sure your stay at the Newagen Inn, besides being visually and soulfully stirring, will be comfortable and pleasantly refreshing.
Almost forgot to mention the food! The restaurant at the Newagen Seaside Inn is the real deal. Serving delicious farm-to-table Maine cuisine, it was excellent. The wedding dinner was just as scrumptious. Read the reviews and then experience it for yourself!
